Description

”Doc Watson, Chet Atkins, Christopher Parkening, Juan Serrano, Wayne Lewis, and Leo Kottke are just a few of the players that influenced my sound. In this course, I’ll share with you a few of the things that they showed me. We’ll explore each of them through a short tune that highlights some of the things I learned from them, and you’ll have all of TrueFire’s learning tools to work with along the way.

We’ll start out with an amazing flatpicker and fingerstyle guitarist from Deep Gap North Carolina, Doc Watson. Next, there are so many things I learned from the great Chet Atkins. Classical Guitarist Christopher Parkening inspired me to hone my tone and phrasing.

Juan Serrano was one of many flamenco guitarists that greatly influenced me. The rhythm guitar player from Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass boys was Wayne Lewis. He was my hero when it came to capturing an exciting bluegrass feel.

And finally, I’ll show you the one thing that Leo Kottke showed me that changed my playing altogether!”

In this course, Muriel will first introduce her heroes to you and describe why she found them so influential. After each discussion, Muriel will then present a performance study illustrating those influences in a musical context. A breakdown follows every performance and Muriel will explain and demonstrate all of the key concepts and approaches in play.

You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the performance studies. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to sync the tab and notation to the video lesson. You can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace.

Grab your guitar and let’s dig in with Muriel Anderson!
