Day 18 Shanty Singing on Sloop

To kick off the Sweet Chariot Music Festival, Bryan was requested to be the skipper to take a dozen shanty singers on our boat, Avocet, to serenade the schooners and other boats in the harbor. From the dock I could hear their voices wafting across the water. One of the sailing instructors took me out in his runabout so we could be one of the many little boats following Avocet around as though she were the pied piper. Tomorrow I will join them onboard and be one of the shanty singers.

I enjoyed visiting with the other musicians and working up some harmonies to do on stage tomorrow. As is their tradition for 35 years, we all opened the evening concert at Oddfellows Hall by entering down the isle with joyous sing-alongs. The hall, the music and the audience all looked like a scene out of the move O Brother Where Art Thou.
