Day 19: The After-Party

We caught up on some repairs and Bryan worked on the leaks in the deck, only to find it still dripping when the rain started in the evening.

After the last concert, we sold a couple “Sailing Dreams” board games in which Swans’s island is depicted with a treasure chest on it—the treasure being this very festival. Each night is followed by an after-party in which more music happens. There are so many songs and shanties that everyone knows enough to add rousing harmonies. The sheer variety of good music js what really astounds me about the Sweet Chariot Music Festival, as much from the next generation, sons and daughters of the long-timers, as from the seasoned musicians. We took raincoats with us for the wet row back about 3am, as the precursing rains to the northern bit of hurricane Debbie began to fall.
