Day 47 Impromptu Car Show

We sailed into Portland, found a beach we could row to and leave the dingy high up on the shore, near an old graveyard. We wanted to get some fresh groceries for the next couple of days, so walked 1.3 miles to the nearest Hannaford grocery store. It was a suburban setting with slow, heavy traffic, something we hadn’t seen for a long time. However, the traffic was unique in that about every 5th car was a classic vintage beauty, a rare import or an unusual car, even a perfectly restored 60’s VW bug. The cars kept coming! There must be a very large car show somewhere in Portland.

We had hoped to meet with Denny Breau, brother of the late great guitarist Lenny Breau, and fine musician himself. Denny was busy with family at camp, but we made a point to get together again the next time we come to Maine.
