Spontaneous concert in Salzburg Austria
Categories: Uncategorized
Yesterday was our free day when we passed through Salzburg. Someone on texted me that he had a friend, Tim Hubler, who could meet us at the train station in Salzburg and give us some ideas for sights to see. It turns out Tim is a musician, classical pianist and composer who used to live in Nashville, so I pulled out my guitar and played a tune as we sat outdoors a coffee shop by the train station. He then invited me to join him to perform at a concert that night for 40-50 journalists from around the world at a private castle, Schloss Leopoldskron, from the early 1700s that was used if the film The Sound of Music View out the back door of the concert hall was used in the rowboat scene.
We had a lovely time, played some tunes solo including “Sakura” and “Bakers Dozen” and some together, improvising on both his and my compositions. Tim is a fine pianist and the concert was very well received. The scenery in Salzburg is stunning, yet it’s always the people we meet that make the most lasting impressions.
Bryan Allen took some photos, this one from the back door of the concert hall just before the performance. Look familiar? Jamming more after the concert, with Tim Hubler
